I was very excited to join the World Scholar’s Cup Global Round in Seoul, South Korea last July. It was my second time in South Korea.
On the first day of the WSC Global Round, we took part in the scavenger hunt. Our team was mixed with participants other schools. There were fun tasks to do such as putting your hand in the doctor fish tank, taking a mirror selfie in the warped mirror, adopt a lost person from the other group, etc. Our team ended up only having 550 points.
The next day was the big day for me and my teammates. It was the debate day. The first round was the only round that we won. The other two rounds we lost, but that does not mean that we did poorly. The other team, we have to admit, was better than us, and that gave us motivation to do better again next time. We appreciated that we had the opportunity to go to the WSC Global Round.
I was also excited to participate in the Cultural Fair because I got to wear my Balinese costume and share souvenirs with WSC Global Round participants.
We also had the Scholars Bowl. For the Talent Show, I watched the performances from my bedroom because attending it was optional. For the closing ceremony, we were so shocked because we found out about our team’s number on the extra qualifier page.
Apart from the competition, I was able to have fun with my friends. We went to play at Lotte World Adventure.
Also, me and my mom tried taking the public transportation, learning about the country’s history by visiting museums, and just exploring the city. We also got to see and feed the real alpacas in the Alpaca World, riding the rail bike with very nice scenery. We also visited Nami Island, which has an interesting history of its own.
