EY3 students and teachers held a grade-level assembly as the culmination of the “Who We Are” unit. Based on the central idea, “People learn the skills of making and keeping friends,” the theme for this year is “Life is Better with Friends.”

Full of enthusiasm, EY1 and EY2 students and teachers, EY3 parents, and the School Executive were seated while eagerly waiting for the assembly to begin.

Seung Woo and Isabella confidently opened the assembly and brought smiles and cheers from the audience. One by one, students from EY3A and EY3B took turns leading Pancasila, Indonesia Raya, and the Binus song. Then, Mr. Isaac, Ms. Richel, and Ms. Jocelyn delivered the opening remarks, setting the stage for the much-anticipated performances.

The Indian dancers proudly entered the stage and lit the assembly hall with enthusiasm. Cheers and applause accompanied the performance and reminded us about being open-minded. We can have friends with similar or different interests and backgrounds, and yet, we learn to accept, respect, and support each other.

The second performance featured the Korean dancers who integrated the mixture of play and dance, highlighting different activities we can play and do with our friends that make us happy. This was followed by the Indonesian performers who composed singing and movement with a medley of “Mentega dan Roti,” “Teman itu Memaafkan,” and “Persahabatan” songs.

A short skit in the middle of the song depicts daily problems among friends. The Indonesian performance emphasized fun days with friends and how to maintain healthy friendships, which taught the audience that friends should solve problems and forgive one another.

As a finale, all EY3 students did an angklung performance led by Ms. Claudya, their music teacher, playing “Mary Had a Little Lamb” and “Twinkle-Twinkle Little Star.” The angklung performers also featured Alvino, a solo glockenspiel player from EY3B. The harmony of the melody of the angklung performance depicted Respect and Teamwork, two of our school values. The students showed us that each person is essential in building wonderful harmony, regardless of how small their part may be. To maintain friendship, we need to show respect and work together so that it will bloom into a beautiful and positive relationship, just like the music performance.

As EY3 students started the new unit about water and learned that their body needs water to keep their body hydrated, the EY3 children ended the assembly by singing and doing the movement of the “Water” song. “Till next time. Sampai jumpa lagi” closed the two little emcees proudly at the end, which reaped another round of applause from all the attendees.
